The Kyoto workshop Atelier You has been the first in Japan to use titanium to make jewelry and other objects.
Its founder, Yoichi Kato, learnt his technique in the US in 1982. From then, he exclusively worked using titanium. His work has been presented on several Japanese TV channels and he received in 1994 a nomination from the Kyoto Design association that promotes abroad the creators based in Kyoto.
His son, Yoshiki Kato, joins him in 1994 and from 1995 participates to events in New York and Tokyo Midtown.
